Animated Hellboy

This one's for CGTalk's Daily Sketch Challenge. I'm hoping to color it and finish it tonight.

Diver Girl (B&W)

Looking forward to coloring this over the weekend, I've never rendered an under water image so this should be fun :)

MySpace Profiles Pics

I use custome images for the profile picture on my friends list in MySpace page. These are three of my friends and my brother. These were done in a rush but I'm particularly proud of the way Michelle's halo came out and Reese's picture overall. I think I managed to capture his personality very well in that one.

Don't lose your head

I made this one for Ben Cadwell's weekly challenge, this week's theme...you guessed it! Halloween! weeeee! The trees were a headache to make; I just wasn't happy with their texture.

Stork and Storm

This is a colab I did with the very talented Chris Walton. I urge you to go check out his work at the Ben Cadwell forum like, right now! http://daredetectives.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1431

I made this for a co-worker's upcoming baby shower. I wasn't paying attention when they told me the babies' gender so I may have to go back and change the bags to pink :p

Paging Dr. Banner...

After doing a couple of more cartoony Hulk pictures I still wasn't "feeling" the character from them. I wanted to do an image that depicted his pure savage rage and so I decided to change both the line work and shading I was using. I used "angrier" lines this time, a more messy style as well as stronger shading.

HULK SMASH!!!

I'm a lot happier with this Hulk version; I'm planning to color it tomorrow as well as make some changes to the inks; it's too late now and I have work tomorrow! Stay tuned for the colored version!

Marvelize This!

Another Hulk attempt, still not happy with the results though; I'm going to try something else tomorrow; I think I'm going to keep pushing it until I'm satisfied. I'm staying in my comfort zone right now and I don't want that so tomorrow I'm going to take a stab at a different style. Also I'm turning off the TV while I work, damn Heroes and Studio 60 for being so good!

I don't draw a lot of Marvel stuff. This started as a generic guy jumping in panic warm up and ended up as Spider-Man. I then decided to draw Captain America; I use this pose a lot, I think it's very dynamic and I get to practice drawing hands and foreshortening. I'm not really happy with Hulk, I always try to make him more of a big loaf than a muscle guy and I end up going for an atomic steroid body builder type.

Sci-Fight! Gladiators

This took me between 8-10 hours to do; I'm guessing the new tablet is reducing my work time by at least half of what it used to be. I can't imagine having done something like this before in less than 20 hours or so. This is an entry for Ben Cadwell's weekly Challenge over at his forum. The theme this week is "Sci-Fight"

Cintiq Superman and Lois

This image was inspired by a couple of similar images Sean "Cheeks" Galloway did of Superman and Lois frolicking in fantastic settings. This is also the first image I did on my Cintiq tablet :)

Gabe Fett

The original line art for this one was done by Mike "Gabe" Krahulik from Penny-Arcade. You can find Mike's blog on my links and I suggest you take a look at it for some great videos and art. I really liked his take on Boba Fett so I decided to color it. I can't say I'm completely satisfied with the result; I think I played it too conservatively. I did try a few new things like the paint chips on his armor and pads, I really like the way those came out (Plus, I did them entirely by hand, not using filters).

Lately I have been creating a clipping mask on top of my colors and shading there instead. That way I can erase whenever I mess up. The disadvantage is that I can't do mild dodge and burns after the colors are done because they only apply to either the clipping mask or the flats. After a couple of drawings done this way I have decided to go back to coloring directly on the flats layer. What I'll do from now one (Other than using snapshots) is make a group "folder" and put a copy of all the flat colored layers in there before rendering on the originals.

Kemma

This is my friend/co-worker Kevin and his future wife Emma. I made this for Kevin's MySpace profile.

He-Man

I got inspired by one of "Cheeks" old images of He-Man and decided to make my own. I might post a step by step of this picture at some point. I kind of rushed towards the end because I spent way too much time working on this.

Eatpoo Weekly 106

Eatpoo (An art forum with a funny name) does a weekly challenge; this week they posted the black and white lineart of He-Man and Teela and the challenge was to draw whatever you think they are seeing. I decided to draw even more 80s cartoon goodness!

I only drew Megatron, Teela and He-Man were already there; the colors are all mine though.

Troll x2

I made this troll-like creature for the EatPoo weekly

A few weeks ago there was an article that said Jack Black was set to play a horrid incarnation of Green Lantern. This is a panel from one of the last comics I made for The Kingdom. It's a mix of Green Lantern, Tenacious D and Nacho Libre. I called him "El Linterna Verde!"
